About the Author

JULIAN ROBINSON is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts. He worked for fifteen years as a professional fashion designer, with his own label and as a consultant, working with Sir Norman Hartnell, Yves Saint Laurent, Mary Quant and Zandra Rhodes.He worked as a lecturer at colleges and universities in the UK and Australia and is the author of numerous books including The Brilliance of Art Deco (1987), The Fine Art of Fashion (1989) and The Golden Age of Style (1983).

GRACIE CALVEY has worked as a fashion illustrator, journalist and artist. She lives in France.

Items of clothing were exquisitely made and designs were so incredibly unique. Presentation was excellent and the quality of printing (which sometimes can be wanting...) was perfect. Love this beautiful book.

Sally Townsend of Oyster Bay was a petite, vivacious, intelligent and remarkably beautiful young lady with beguiling eyes. A 1779 Valentine poem from an admiring British officer reads: "Thou know'st what powerful magick lies Within the round of Sarah's eyes."

She was the sister of Robert Townsend, a principal member of the "Culper Ring," General Washington's most effective spy network. During the British occupation (1776-1783), Loyalist and Hessian troops were quartered in and around Oyster Bay, two Redcoat officers in the Townsend home.

Sally assisted her brother in gathering intelligence while coyly flirting with the enemy. The romantic interest of Jager officer Ernst Wintzingerode, she dallied with Major John Andre and was courted by Lt. Col. John Graves Simcoe of the Queen's Rangers. She paid a heavy price for her role in thwarting the Benedict Arnold treason plot.

The book explores the possible identity of the mysterious "Agent 355" mentioned in a cryptic Culper Ring message.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. History on a Personal Level By roger dodger History is not just names, places and dates. It's the story of real people. The author does a masterful job of pulling together many sources to paint a picture of the people of the Culper spy ring of the revolutionary war. When a British army troop occupied the town of Oyster Bay, the Townsend's home was chosen to house a succession of British officers. There began a tale of intrigue which resulted in some important American victories. Samuel Townsend was taken captive and his wife and daughters were forced to play host to the enemy. It was daughter Sally Townsend's fate to have to manage relationships with both the British and her secret connections to the Americans. Through the author we see the ambiguous attractions to one officer she experienced, and we see the fears of all the conspirators of being discovered and summarily executed. We see how Sally's eavesdropping provided a vital clue to the capture of the British spymaster and the foiling of a British plan to take over West Point. This is history at its most personal level. Highly recommended.

Paul Misencik is an extraordinary writer who makes history come to life. He doesn’t just document historical events, he describes why they occurred so the reader understands the mentality of the people from that era which leads to a better understanding of their extreme actions to support George Washington. Although Sally Townsend is the focus of the book, she was part of a network known as the Culper Ring. Paul described each member of the spy network, as well as the British and German officers, in such detail the reader knows their personalities, understands their individual motivations, and the great risks the spies took to support the cause.

After Carter's brother found his mate, unheard of for tiger shifters, he is feeling a bit jealous. He is the one who is always conscientious about his work on the police force and also as a shifter enforcer for the dragons who took him and his brothers in as kids. Amy is an Alpha wolf shifter. She was destined to mate to continue her species when her parents were killed. She's convinced it was not an accident but a murder covered up by a corrupt police force. She trusts her partner on the force Carter. She knows a shifter was involved and he isn't a shifter - right?? Danger, explosives and hot hot fun with her straight laced partner.

By Crystal Sin Thrilling shifter romance with a ton of mystery and suspense, you really get hooked in the first paragraph. Carter is a tiger shifter working for the dragons, as a local cop. Amy is an alpha wolf shifter who is out to find answers regarding her parents death. Amy is also Carter's new partner, but does not know that he is a very rare tiger shifter. Lies may be just the thing that tear these two apart, but together they must try to stop a hidden evil out to destroy Amy. Will they be able to fight against the evil after them and find love? I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Amy was just the right squirrel for the job. This story was so perfect. I am too excited for Kel's story. Can't wait to see what woman will put up with his pistachio addiction.I would also like to read on Perry and his trifecta. Sound like him and his partner need a mate too!

However, the characters are described in their Roman form. This might confuse young children who are looking for Greek stories. other than that though, fantastic.

By Amazon Customer This is written as children's book, but makes a great light page turner for adults. Nice short little chapters make it great for commuters. The "but" is that for some reason the author tells the Greek Stories with the Roman characters of the gods -Jupiter instead of Zeus, Diana instead of Artemis, etc. This does not undermine the enjoyment of the stories, which are really delightfully simple and fun, rather the accuracy.

The imaginary thrust of the story writers was impeccable. However, the envy, jealousy, wandering, immaturity, anger and fickleness that fills the "Mighty Ones" was pronounced. Forgiveness is almost unheard of, and love is partly mercenary based. There are clear take away points for reality, but overall this book lies in fantasy. Good read.

First all had no idea she was doing a Christmas book involving the Burning Claws Clan (Smoke Jumpers) and a BLizzard Polar Bear from the Ice Bear books. She actually did a good job of introducing Clara and Carter into the mix!!! Sloane is trying to show the readers that the females of the Blizzard females, even though had nothing to do with their crazy leader and are trying to rebuild their lives.Clara Walsh is on her way to Los Angeles to start over. She left Alaska to get as far away from the after effect of the Polar Bear clan wars. She'd pretty much given up on love figuring that most men wouldn't be able to deal with a female bear shifter. Her car dies in Red Valley and she is introduced to the Burning Claw Clan. As the Christmas holidays approach she is admiring a man from afar in hopes that her secret won't ruin things.Carter Shaw is a big man for a human, but can he deal with a female bear shifter? He is also not wanting to be alone for Christmas, so he starts some secret admirer stuff with Clara in hopes to win her over by Christmas.A fateful rainy night leaves Carter in danger. Can Clara save him? Will her secret scare him off? Well you are going to have to read the book to find out what happens to Clara and Carter and the Burning Claw Clan.

Clara Walsh a Polar bear on the move to find a safer and better life away from Alaska and the clan that was nearly wiped out. All the males are dead and the cubs and females are constantly hiding and on the move unable to trust anyone.Clara sets out of Hollywood and wind up in Red Valley California where she finds the Fire Smoke Shifters. She has a car that won't get her to her destination and needs a job. She find one at the Sweet Crust Pie Shop owned by one of the mates of the Fire Bears. She is recognized as a shifter and after telling her story she is offered a chance to start over.Can Clara find love? Could the handsome carpenter who is working on the hanger be her secret admirer? Carter Shaw is human and has no idea there are bear shifters or any shifters for that matter. Can love bloom under those conditions. Read and find out.

A delightful Christmas shifter romance By Marsha @ Keeper Bookshelf I was delightfully surprised to discover a Christmas novella which brings back all of my favorite bear shifters and their mates from the Fire Bear Shifters series.Also, I honestly don’t know what else to say to entice you to taking a risk on this wonderful story that the Cover Description hasn’t already told you about.Clara has landed in Red Valley after leaving Alaska and the danger left from the ravaging clan wars that her insane alpha started. She wasn’t safe in the land she was born in and decided to make a complete new start. When her car broke down along her escape route it seemed the fates had meant for her to end up in Red Valley.Here she discovered a new job, a shifter clan willing to take her under their wing – and a handsome man she wouldn’t mind getting to know better. She was always aware that humans would view her polar bear as something they’d rather not be aware of. And like many shifters, she kept her secret. She was strongly attracted to Carter, but he seemed unwilling to take her hints.When she felt that her lifemate was in trouble, not knowing who that might be – she still didn’t hesitate to run to this unknown man’s side. What she discovers is a lifetime simply waiting for her to unravel the clues and accept one perfect for her man’s love.Clara is such a strong character. She’s been through a lot but she still believes in finding her mate one day. Carter has become a recluse. Perhaps it didn’t start out to be his goal, but slowly friends faded away and his work consumed him. In this part, we find out interesting pieces of information. This couple is on fire for each other. What happens when a misunderstanding seems to douse that fire?It seems Blake spied with his little eye, Grace a lot sooner than we thought. In fact, he knew her Grandma, Annabelle. We also discover that Blake thinks, no matter what he does, that he'll never be good enough for Grace. However, he can't stay away from her. He can't stop thinking about her, wanting to be with her, wishing things were different. He craves her.Grace craves him too. We know this from the first part. We also know she's hiding her true motives from him. But she can't stay away.They spend more time together and are drawn to each other even more. Grace makes Blake lose focus. During their hot encounter after getting locked in the building together, he has some serious security measures, Blake couldn't think straight. It wasn't until after Grace went home once the lockdown was lifted, that he remembers the cameras that inevitably recorded every moment of their time together. Blake doesn't want anyone seeing that but him. For one, he doesn't want anyone to think differently about Grace. Two, the naughty boy comes out and he may have copied that section to his personal USB drive. Raise your hand if you also find that hot. *raises hand*There's also an event that Blake's company is in charge of. He's not doing it for PR, for attention for the company, or for sympathy. He's doing it because he wants to help. His heart is in the right place and you can tell this means a lot to him. Grace attends as his date and she sees another side to Blake. There's a helicopter ride that leaves Grace in awe and Blake even more smitten. Don't even get me started on the restaurant scene. Holy moly, that was hot. Cari and Taryn always deliver smoking hot sexy scenes. As in, my body is on fire and I need my significant other, spouse, or a free hand ;-) now scenes.But things don't always go the way you initially plan for them to. Feelings change. Motive is thrown out the window. Unfortunately, things have a way of coming out and being misunderstood. Grace says something after some one on one on camera *winks* time and Blake instantly starts thinking the worst. His response is to essentially punish Grace for what he believes she's doing without giving her any chance to explain herself.Will Blake really let Grace go? Will he give her a chance to tell her side or will he just continue to assume the worst of her? Will Grace let him go? Will she try and force him to listen to her or will she stick with her initial plan, forgetting the developing feelings between them?I don't know if I'm going to withstand the wait for volume three. Granted, it releases on December 10th, but I need to know now what happens. I am loving this couple and can't wait to see what Cari and Taryn have in store for them. This time we are delving into the mind of Blake and get an interesting perspective from the ever brooding billionaire. Where Grace seemed to be more of an open book; Blake is a complicated man of secrets. Everything I thought I felt about Blake was blown away in this book. His "thoughts and feelings" were so conflicted, but yet so real. Grace's character was still fun and sassy. So many questions as to who Blake really is? Where is Grace living? When will all the lies come out? How will all the secrets be revealed? Will Grace and Blake get the happily ever after?I was skeptical on how the authors would be able to progress the book so quickly and not make it feel rushed, but somehow it was so natural that I was again left dismayed (and many other things) when the ending cliffhanger arrived. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first, so I literally can't wait for Book 3! ARC received in exchange for honest review

It definitely raised some questions for me as well. We know Grace took the job to try to get her grandmas house back from Blake who purchased it. When things turned steamy at the end of Vol 1, I was wondering what was going to happen in this book.The steam factor is high, because hello, it's Taryn and Cari. I don't think they can do any wrong in the steam department. Blake is just, wow, he ramps it up with the dirty talking and demands that had me wishing I was Grace. We learn more about Blake in this one and also learn that he knows Grace but not how or why. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book to see if some of my questions will be answered.Of course we're left with a cliffhanger, and I was left stunned wondering what in the heck was going on and cursing Taryn and Cari for leaving me hanging like that! But they sucked me in again with their writing and brilliant story telling. I will be waiting impatiently for more Blake and Grace.Received a copy of this book from the authors in exchange for an honest review.
