This Kindle version is not a translation of what St. Therese wrote By A reader This Kindle version of "Story of a Soul" is an obsolete (early 20th century) translation into English of a version of St. Therese's classic autobiography heavily edited by her sister Pauline, who made about seven thousand changes to what St. Therese wrote. Since 1956 Therese's authentic manuscripts have been available. To read them, choose the paper edition: Story of a Soul: The Autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux, Third Editiontranslated by Fr. John Clarke, OCD and published by ICS Publications in Washington, D.C.

Humble title, humble woman...Inspiring Saint By Stephen St. Therese was not a saint who cared for legions of sick and poor like Mother Theresa did or who performed mystical wonders in her day like Padre Pio, but in her humility and her words reveals herself to be a saint to inspire even the most a la carte of the faithful. The book is best summed up when she mirrors the moans of another to get sympathy for her illness, only to be rebuked. She learns a lesson from this never to stoop to the levels of others and let the necessity of human comfort dilute our paths to holiness. An incredible read and an inspiring lesson in maintaining a love of what is good in the face of the inevitability of suffering. I dare anyone lukewarm about their faith to read this and not come out feeling stronger not just in their faith but also as a person. 5/5

A Gem By Sabu Augustine How an ordinary nun working in a convent of Discalced Carmelites would be regarded within 50 years the Doctor of the Church can only be known by knowing that great woman's life history or the Autobiography. This is an autobiography of a Saint and a Doctor of the Church and one of the most inspiring Catholic personalities of 20th and even also in 21st century. Her story will touch your heart and enkindle a keen passion for all things religious and being faithful to your call and suffer and still love one another. I would say that she is a Saint who in more ways than one has shown the sanctity of an ordinary life no matter whether one is living in 19th Century France or 20th Century America or 21st century India. This book flows like a stream of sweet water capable of quenching thirsts of even non-believers. Such was the power and beauty of the Soul that the Devil feared her greatly on account of her sanctity and Blessed Virgin gave her visions which totally healed her of her ailments. She also had an extraordinary influence over the nature and weather of the day. She has shown ordinary souls that if we are ready to take the first step, God firmly holds ou r hand and takes us further on.Saint Therese'.. You have been inspiration to millions of ordinary believers and Catholics. Pray for us..
