My hometown is Worcester, MA and I fondly remember Walberg and Auge drums as well as the W&A factory and store. For my birthday, my wife surprised me with a color edition of "Walberg & Auge - The History and Future of America's Most Innovative and Unknown Drum Company". A bigger surprise was when I turned to page 313 and found myself in the book! I thought Jeremy Esposito might include a couple photos of my W&A drums, but I didn't expect a 3 page feature - LOL! Despite that, it's a great book about the drum company that made the first tunable toms, the first high hat stand, first clamping basket snare stand, drummer's throne, telescopic spurs, wire brushes, etc etc. Back in the day, W&A supplied hardware for the major American drum companies: Ludwig, Slingerland, Rogers and Gretsch. I had never seen a W&A catalog before reading this book (very cool). I really enjoyed the terrific essay by Steve Monks, who began working at the company at age 13. There is a lot of well researched history about the people who worked at the company, the drums and the musicians who played them. I know this book (like the rebirth of the Walberg and Auge drum company) was a true labor of love for Jeremy and I'm very honored to be included. A+++

I thought it would be an interesting history to follow of a local company…and WOW, it was!This book takes you through the unique history of a real American company that innovated, excelled, and paved the way for many components and peripherals of drums and other instruments. While the book has a lot of facts and intricate details of products, it is by no means a boring read; it is fascinating and at times, quite amusing with the wit and character of the company’s co-founder, Walberg. The book is more about a company and the American dream, than it is just about drums.The way the company was brought back and resurrected is an inspiring story of rebirth, triumph, and dedication to the true American entrepreneurial spirit.I highly recommend this book to anyone that is interested in drums, music, history, entrepreneurship, and the American dream!

By Amazon Customer This (long overdue) book is a historical account of a musical instrument manufacturing company based out of Worcester MA. W&A played an important role in the advent of the modern drum set and "traps/sound effects" used in the silent film industry. It depicts the birth, hey day, decline and future of Walberg & Auge. Along with many intriguing stories and a heartfelt forward by Daniel Glass, this book is a must read for any drum, silent film and music educational enthusiast and history buff!!
