IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ: This is the FIRST BOOK of a two-part series (The Silver Nitrate series): 1. GRIND 2. GRIT The book had to be divided due to a high page count. However, the SECOND BOOK, ‘Grit’, is being simultaneously released with ‘Grind’. Therefore, there is no wait time for the reader and no lingering cliffhanger. Thank you. WARNING: This book has adult themes. Though the author does not consider this erotica, there are detailed scenes of a sexual nature as well as mature content. Please be advised. BLURB: Skilled welder by day and drummer by night, Zenith Taylor has inherited a healthy self-confidence and an enviable work ethic from his Iroquois grandparents. Yet, past suffering stops him from forming emotional ties and seeking meaningful connections. Such as love for a woman… Enter Silver Faye, a top notch professional with a zesty personality. Recent grief has left her feeling emotional and guilty to the point where she’s built a wall around her heart. One evening though, Fate brings her face to face with Zenith… Silver and Zenith share a love for repairing the seemingly unfixable. The attraction is undeniable, and as they begin to forge a friendship, deeper feelings set in. The past is hard to overcome… but eventually, long-held beliefs, pain and trauma are exposed, explored, and released, creating a healing that only they can provide for one another. GRIND is a tale of true love, of two souls lost finding their path, of getting out of one’s way and becoming bigger and better than one could ever imagine. GRIND is a gritty urban love story where bad boy meets bad girl — and they become something good, TOGETHER.

By Amazon Customer Nells If my judgment should ever linger into despair of unworthy books to read, feeling trapped into heady blackness; I know that hope is not lost once Ms Tiana Laveen drop one of her best selling/masterpieces. I know that my reservations vanished instantly, my minds no longer freeze, the notion of reading books with substance becomes meaningful again. The respect I have, the bond I share with this author keeps my reader's heart beating steadily with knowledge that no other author can seem to manage to fare.Tiana's books are omniscient books where you can smell, see colors, hear music, and photograph the weather conditions, as written in the script. Your teleported into the mythical setting town where you see down to every detail, to what the characters are doing, hear their thought process, see there everybody movement. Her writing skills are so good because it is so lifelike and so well researched that you are lost in a world of reader's paradise. Readers don't appreciate a good detail book because her books are so brilliant and so well researched that you are stuck into the book world, the scenery, the use of the imagery, atmosphere etc.The conversations in this book are well scripted dialogues, coupled with the added benefit of full and developed qualities.Through several conversational exchanges between the characters the readers get a glance at a fundamental discussion concerning Amerindians, elderly abuse, grieving, welders, computer gaming programmers, musical groups and learning to live and let go, and in doing so explores the depth of our characters knowledgeability of all the subject matters at hand. Can I say how much I loved the vibrant diversity of the characters (Indian) protagonist Zenith, African American Silver (heroine) dark skinned beauty with a passel of other ethnic supporting hilarious characters, like paw paw (Hiawatha) for one (think he faking his dementia) had me cackling throughout the book. He may be my personal favorite, solely because of his description when he was introduced. He was just fun to learn about. The main character Zenith is a total reject of society, someone who hates everything the current world stands because although his name means the highest point reached, he was the polar opposite. For he harbored deep family secret, that he resented, especially what happened to his father and mother, but he pushed ahead and made something out of nothing. Though his business as a welder isn't a fortunes 500 job per say to brag about he loved it. And then, his love for music, the way he transcends when he takes the drumsticks in his hands and let the music speaks to him. You can sense the melancholy of the beats pass through him.The heroine, Silver to me, was a cold hearted b@$&h, at the beginning in particular. Nevertheless, I quickly lost that belief. I won’t claim I relate to her in that way, but she is still a character that I could relate to at times. Sliver is what you called at first: Love lost, love gone, love still held on to. Guess repressed feelings leaves you feeling cold inside. Utterly cold and raw, she seemed to be, to me, something that someone would dream up as some sort of nerve racking antagonist. Like her mom told her “Silver, you aren’t living anymore. You’re just alive…”.... Notwithstanding, to some, Silver could appear to be a party-pooper at first, at the beginning in particular. Self included. All the same, I quickly lost that belief. Because, as the book went along, I found myself loving her more and more. I found her to be very interesting, well-written, and unique. Silver sees things in a sort of danger/not danger's way, if she feels cornered, seeing things as dangerous and attacking them when she felt threatened, as opposed to all her actions being dictated by morals she’s heard from birth.I enjoyed how the romance between Zenith and Silver slowly developed. They couldn't stand each other on the surface but secretly was fascinated by one another. That first meeting was hilarious. Zenith was cocky and silver was snappy and poor Clara has been just not quick. Even so, over time, after another chance encounter, they form a true friendship. And it arose in the face of adversity and became stronger in hard times. Now that folks is how you write true love.To speak about other happenings in the book is hard because I don't want to be giving anything major away, so I'll end my review here and urge other fellow readers to give this book a chance it's a book that's manifested with precise care, vocabulary on point, hilarity. And have the proper mixture of romance, intense hot, steamy sensual love scene scorching hot. You know that no other can write a scene like Ms Laveen. Whew The only criticism I have, that drives me nuts is the incessant complains that I get about how ms Laveen books are too descriptive or overly wordy, well I want to say to those critics she is an author that puts a lot of time and thought into her books and products. She doesn't half step nor does she write short stories just to rush her work on. Her work, and hard labor speak for itself.I am never disappointed reading any of her books and neither should you.Well I can classify this as one of the best books I’ve read in latter year of 2015. (And there haven't been that many)10 across the board now I'm on to the next one....My new book couple ZENITH AND SILVER!!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

By Oasis In “Grind” we meet Zenith Taylor and Silver Faye, two people, not unlike anyone else just trying to make their way through life. She’s a video game/software designer and he’s a welder by day and drummer in the band Pure Grit by night. They both have issues to unpack and deal with, just like us all. The pair seem almost too ordinary, until you read on and realize ordinary is not so ordinary when it’s laid out before you. Enter Hiawatha Taylor, Zenith’s grandfather and rock. He’s helped Zen to become the man that any set of parents would be proud of. Zenith is self-sufficient, kind and responsible. So responsible that when he finds out that the now aged, ill man is being mistreated, he takes him into his own home and cares for him. With two jobs and taking care of a man who is slowly slipping away from him, mentally and physically, Zenith is beyond exhausted. Not to mention, having to deal (or not deal) with the pain of losing both of his parents when he was a child.Next, enter David, Silver’s ex-husband and the one man she can’t seem to let out of her head, even though he’s deceased. He made poor choices and she now holds herself responsible for the deadly consequences. The brick wall that she’s cemented around her keeps any other man from getting too close and protects her locked off heart. With all these issues, no wonder when the pair first meet, its less than stellar. But hold on, Ms. Laveen weaves together a story full of love, hold your gut humor, and beautiful pain that is so worth it. It touches you where you are, because these are real life situations that most of us have been touched by.

This book spoke about real life situations such as Alzheimer's, elderly abuse and guilt just to name a few. Zenith is a talented drummer in the band Pure Grit, and welder by trade. Silver is a software genius and love "tinkling" with motorcycles and playing video games. These two unique individuals are also battling some internal demons. Silver feels guilty regarding her ex-husband and Zenith regarding his parents. Will these two lost souls battle their internal demons to give love a chance? In Grind, you will go through an emotional roller coaster with the seriousness of an elder and the genius writing of this author. This book have you all up in your feelings and having you laugh out loud with scenes between Paw his grandfather and Zenith. I love his grandfather sense of humor even though he's battling his own demons. The first meeting between Zenith and Silver were electric and they both got "electrocuted" in a bad way. I truly adore the relationship between Silver and her mom and the relationship between Zenith and his grandfather! Will Zenith and Silver follow their dreams because they are both talented individuals or will the shackles of their demons be their demise? Take this journey with Zenith and Silver in the second book Grit to find out!
