By Jennifer Wu I picked out this book thinking that it was a book teaching you how to draw things related to books/literature. Little did I know that it was more than that. It's also a journal where you can doodle and design your own book designs, characters, bookcases. The prompts and creative exercises really trigger me to be even more creative and think of ideas I would never think about on my own. Exercises like creating literary puns and villains only make me think more critically while enjoying the creative process. However, the best thing I like about this book is that I can use it for classroom lessons for English classes. I am currently an teacher/tutor and I find the exercises in these books able to incite interest and make English fun for students!

Filled with literary snippets and whimsical illustrations makes this a great gift for book lover, especially if that book lover is yourself. I enjoy the creative prompts that encourage you to add some of your own illustrations and ideas. I spend several hours daily reading heavy essays and discourses (I'm a philosophy major) and find this an enjoyable distraction.

There is a whole bunch of fun facts, lists and games all based around books and words. The doodling pages are the illustrations to go along with all things books and reading. My favorites are the step by step tutorial on how to draw a typewriter and the game, "making puns with book names and ice cream flavors". The draw a fabulous fictional place in a snow globe is pretty cool too.

Geek Chic Pixel Art By Beth - I Sniff Books When coloring enthusiasts open up Pixel Gamer, they will be greeted by a letter from Dmitrii Vlasov on the reverse side of the front cover. Next is a seven-page full color introduction with three sections: (1) creating your own pixel art, (2) color tips, and (3) and 28 full-color thumbnails of all the pixel art featured on the coloring pages.Then the coloring pages! Each coloring page is a double-page spread. The left page features a gray-scale thumbnail of the coloring page on the right page. Below the thumbnail, there is a quote related to video gaming. And the bottom third of the left page features a blank pixel grid sized 2.75 x 4.25. Each grid has a different caption asking colorists to design something specific. Oh how I swoon for these blank grids — what a fun way to create your own themed pixel art! The right page, of course, features the pixel designs. And a huge thank you to Vlasov who was so kind as to outline the design elements in blank lines on the grid! Instant coloring fun!(As a side note, like most coloring books, the art is printed on both sides of the page, but I did notice that the pages are perforated.)Pixel Gamer is super cool in the nerdiest way. Initially enjoying the lavish balls, picnics and carriage rides, after being abruptly jilted by her fiancee, an honorable Lord, she is now totally disenchanted by the ton after being scorned and mocked due to her broken engagement.The hero, Mikhail is a Russian Prince & also the Duke of Avondale. Not quite ready to face the ton, he seeks refuge rusticating at his cousin's estate which is where he meets Payton.I found it hard to reconcile how easily Payton slipped into intimacy with Mikhail. She willingly puts herself into compromising situations with him, barely knowing him a few days. In one heated love scene her only remark was "you must think me wanton" with a blush. For an inexperienced virgin, there was no alarm, demurral or anything near chastity from her.Mikhail had been sexually abused as a youngster leaving him with an abhorrence of being touched. The writer seemed to relish using this as a point to make the sex scenes almost BDSM-like with bondage (he ties her up so that she doesn't touch him). I also didn't like how Payton rejected Mikhail on discovering he's titled even given his explanations. Lots and continued sex is fine but not marriage.Not my kind of heroine or storyline. It seemed too much on the sex & not enough of the characters or the build up in the relationship.Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. This is a novel that you will not want to put down! By Laura Tague Payton Peppiwell thought she had found her perfect match when he broke thing off. Heartbroken, she is staying with the Duke of Calydon when she encounters the Duke's horse breeder, Mikhail Konstantinovich. Payton is intrigued by Mikhail who slowly seduces her, though he can't handle the touch of another person. After her experience with a titled suitor who stopped talking to her once it was revealed that a relative was illigimate, Peyton wants nothing to do with the nobility. As their romance develops, will Peyton still want Mikhail when she learns that not only is he titled in England, but he is a prince? Can Mikhail overcome his traumatic past and learn to touch Peyton and love her?Stacy Reid is one of my favorite authors and this has been one of my favorite series. She has such a wonderful way of blending historical romance with erotic romance. This is one of those books that you need to block out free time to read it because once you start reading, you will not want to stop! I loved the tortured hero in Mikhail and the strong, determined woman in Peyton.

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Another fantastic edition to the Calydon series! By Kindle Customer Another wonderful, emotional, sexy, romantic read by Stacy Reid. She never disappoints and has officially become one of those authors who I don't even need to read the blurb to see what the book is about. It's an auto-buy because her name is on the cover. And The Royal Conquest, book 4 in the Scandalous House of Calydon proves why. Payton Peppiwell is Phillipa's, from The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell, sister. Side note: If you haven't read The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell, why not?? You're missing another awesome passionate story, and it's where we first meet Payton. I loved how Payton matured from then to now. Because of the hurt and embarrassment from being jilted because of the parentage of her sister's husband, her fiance jilted her. Now, she is disillusioned about society, and is determined to avoid titled men and all the hypocrisy that comes with a title. She wants to marry an "ordinary" man, like herself. In walks, Mikhail. Their first meeting is electric. He rides out after her into a storm, and saves her after she takes a tumble from her horse. She believes him to be a horse breeder and a financial adviser. Her attraction to him makes her "love" for her ex-fiance seem like a childhood crush. She wants him with a surprising dark, hungry need that she's never experienced. Mikhail is equally taken aback by the desire he feels for this young woman. But he has secrets. And not just that he is a Russian Prince, not untitled. He also hates intimacy. And has reason to. If what he felt toward Payton was just lust, that would be one thing--he could satisfy it like he has over the years. But there's a tenderness and fascination there. And a woman like Payton would need intimacy and want to touch. Plus there's the fact, she makes him actually want to give it to her but he can't--not just won't, can't. I won't throw in a spoiler about why, but oh. It was heart-breaking. But reading how he--they--overcame it was lovely and empowering. And it still stays with me now. Stacy Reid does a tortured hero like nobody's business. So also throw in an ex that won't take no for an answer and a pushy, title-hungry family, and you have a story that practically hums with passion, romance, conflict and every emotion on the scale. I adore every book in the Scandalous House of Calydon. That said, The Royal Conquest may be the best in the series. I say "may" because I'm a bit of a fence straddler...:-) It makes you FEEL. I loved Payton's spirit. Her refusal to be cowed and intimidated by her family, and her determination to not give up on Mikhail. Mikhail touched every button in me that makes a hero memorable, lovable and powerful. Together they were combustible and like steel forged in fire. I can't say enough about this book. I read it in one day. I absolutely can't wait for the next book! Stacy Reid not only wrote another awesome book, she knocked it out the park, topping her ownself!

The Creative Fight is an insightful and encouraging hands-on guidebook on how to turn our dreams and ideas into something we can be proud of. Chris Orwig astutely addresses how to bring shape to our creative vision and how to overcome the barriers that can so easily stop us in our tracks. Ultimately, this book provides us with an approachable framework by which to produce something meaningful from our creative aspirations. This isn’t kittens-and-rainbows stuff … it’s a book that has clearly been written for those of us who care about our creative legacy and are not afraid to roll up our sleeves. Every page is a breath of fresh air and every chapter is a pat on the back (or a kick in the butt); plus, it’s fun to read and the exercises are inspiring (and not at all like homework—phew!). I believe this book is a must-read for every artist, freelancer, and idea-maker.

By Michael Brochstein Excellent book that tries to help one with creativity but be aware that it is much much much more about creativity than it is specifically about photography. It may be written by a photographer and aimed at photographers but it could just as easily be aimed at artists in almost any medium/genre.

It is a sub-genre of fantasy and science fiction. It also includes aesthetic designs with technological drawings inspired by the Victorian age or 19th century machinery. By Amin K Haddad The author very skillfully recounts briefly the history of the Middle East region and the empires that ruled the land, God's call of Abraham, the promise of his seed, the beginning of the children of Israel, their journey through the land of Canaan, their possession and dispossession of the land through the passage of time which was conditional upon OBEDIENCE to God. Nevertheless, it was regarded as the land which God gave to their fathers, culminating in God's fulfillment of his promise of a redeemer given in Genesis 3:15. That promise to Abraham about Christ was given to him before the promise of the land. The author, with a brilliant mind and deep understanding of God's word gives a rigorous argument that Abraham's seed is not national, physical Israel. All the children of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who are redeemed by Him are His seed. Therefore, there is no substance to the view that Israel must occupy the ancient promised land, otherwise the battle of Armageddon will not take place and Christ will not return. He masterfully states that the Old Testament belonged to the Jewish people, but the days subsequent to the New Testament belonged to the Gentiles.

"The Economic Order and Religion" was a collaborative project with Thornton W. Merriam. The book was intended to bring the differences among Americans' approaches to economic ethics into high relief by presenting two contrasting viewpoints, and allowing the authors to comment on each other's perspective. Prior to collaborating with Merriam, Knight had begun work on a book on religion, economics and social ethics. When the collaborative project emerged in the early 1940s as a realistic opportunity, the material already written was re-worked into the chapter essay "Liberalism and Christianity" included in this monograph.

Nikki has another motive for working there though, she is determined to find answers as to what happened to her brother before his 'accidental death'.She immediately catches the eye of rich guest, Xavier who sets out to wine and dine her.It was OK, I found Xavier a bit cheesy with his pick up lines and I thought Nikki conveniently made friends very quickly with the right people who were involved in 'The Scene' that could help her find her answers.As expected, this ends on a cliffhanger. A very short read.Part one of 3, told in Nikki's POV.ARC gratefully received from the author in exchange for an honest review

There is just something about this city that puts a sense of heat into the story. Roxy has a way of setting the "scene".You start with the mystery that is Nikki and her brother. You are immediately caught up wanting to know what happened. Then Xavier comes into the picture as this rich, debonair mystery man. He encapsulates Nikki, as well as the reader, from the get go. Watching Nikki stumble through the first few meetings with Xavier reminded me of myself so much, you couldn't help but want to shake her and be like "just make out with him already!!!!"As you get drawn into the story more and more, the twists and turns start to build and you are just dying to know who this "El Jefe" is.I cannot wait for part 2 to keep getting deeper and deeper into this mystery.

Understanding the type of wild child with a heart of gold, and a very scared girl behind the mask she wore for anyone outside of her comfort zone of close friends – I knew that Cassie would need to have a gentle, strong and understanding mate waiting for her down the road. And she found him in Cash. Knowing how close she is to her best friend Effie and Effie’s husband, Dax I figured that Cassie’s mate would be a cougar shifter. Thank the fates I was wrong. What Cassie needs is the gentle giant of a grizzly bear shifter, Cash.When Effie and Dax had headed to a family Christmas, this time Cassie was left behind. Effie would have taken her, but the secrets of the people they would be staying with were not hers to give away – even to a woman closer than a blood sister. Unfortunately, that feeling of being abandoned by her best friend led Cassie to going out and drowning the emotions with so called friends at a bar. Knowing she was too drunk to drive she handed her keys over to someone not so drunk – a bad decision all around.The resulting injuries and scars from the car accident have left Cassie with a hide in a hole attitude. Yes, she got looks because one of those scars was on her face – and she could not stand the pity. Since Cassie was determined to hide in her room, Cash made the decision to take a napkin-full of cookies to her window and talk to her under the cover of night and the protection of the walls she was still behind. One touch of her hand and Cash knew – but he had to see her to be one hundred percent sure. So when one of the twins came into Cassie’s room, crawled up on her bed and onto her chest – and decided to shift into her bear, well let’s just say that the resulting shriek got Cash the chance to see his mate in person a lot sooner than he expected.From that second on he know that he had finally discovered his mate. Now the difficult part – convincing Cassie that she belonged with him, overcoming her fears and easing her into the knowledge of what they were to each other was the hardest, most delightful job Cash had ever taken on. The results would be having his mate at his side – once he convinced her that is.I absolutely, freakin’ loved Bearly Healed. Cash is exactly what Cassie needed to finally see her own truth worth. They are funny, cute, and un-bearably (pun intended) hot together.The bonus of this story was to meet up with characters from Pacific Northwest Werebears and Pacific Northwest Cougars again – and to be there when Effie and Dax’ baby was born. This story was simply the perfect wrap up to this series (maybe there are more stories – but this put the cap on several connected characters for me). I don’t often gush in reviews – but I did love Cassie and Cash – theirs is a perfect, understanding, accepting love.I would strongly recommend Bearly Healed for any reader who loves Paranormal Romance.. There are a lot of characters from previous series (see above) very much like a reunion I feel. So while this is an amazing story, if you haven’t read any of the previous stories then it might get a tad confusing as to who belongs to who and such… you could read this and come away with an enjoyable experience – but in my opinion, that experience is going to be so much more if you know everyone’s back story.

Cashly, a must read By Teresa Rose Cassidy was broken in more ways than one, she thought that she was lost and no one cared bout what happens to her anymore. Her best friend found her mate and it wasn't what she ever thought it would be cause he wasn't human. She wanted what was best for Effie and if Dax was it then wished them all the happiness.Since her accident Cassie hasn't been the same, dirty mouth, full of her self, wise cracking Cassie. She had fractured her ankle, tore some ligaments in her other knee. So she couldn't walk, but the only thing Cass seen in the mirror was the scar and it wasn't that bad.Now for Cash, he's a big strong man looking for his mate and thinking that he will never find her. Did I tell you that he was big and strong and so good looking. Well be is lolWell Dax and Effie are gonna have a little one and Dax thinks its to much on his mate cause she's working bout Cass to much and its putting stress on their baby. So Dax's family agree to take Cass in but they don't tell her that they are all or mostly shifters too, but she figures it out.At first she doesn't come out, then Cash comes over and smells this sweet smell. He has to figure out what it means. He has to meet the girl behind the door. She won't come out. He comes up with a plan, he grabs some cookie and sneaks outside to her window. Then he knows as soon as he touches her tiny hand, she's his. He has found his mate. He's over the moon, but he has his job cut for him. She's been hurt so much and she just can't bring herself to become attached to someone just so he can let her down. Cash doent wañt to be separated from Cass. He even carried her to the bathroom and back. She needs her best friend Effie. What she doesn't know is she's on her way back cause they already told her. They all think that if Effie helps explain to Cass the ways of the mating she understand more and expect it. Cass is already coming out of her room more and meeting more of the family. Since one of the twin cubs woke her up one afternoon. She wasn't scared she was just in shock a little lol. She knows she has deep feelings for Cash, like she don't want to be away from him either, she thinks its cause he brings her such good treats. He's always so careful with her knee and ankle and he says that's he's gonna take over for the therapist, but did she want someone taking over so much of her life.When Effie showed up she tolded Cassie that she should go with her feeling and do what makes her happy and if Cash makes her happy then go for it. Cassis knows he can make her feel like no one else has ever did before. This book is so good I saved it. I will be reading more books from this author.

By Kathy Senft Cash Rochon is a Bear of a man 'Literally' and he is lonely at 49 years old not old in bear years but in the human world, sigh. All his cousins and best friend are mated and having families. He is set, never been sick or hurt can have anything he would want or need. He could provide for a large family if and when the time comes, should the fates be so inclined to shine on him. He is honest, loyal ,and protective to a fault.Cassidy Spirit Hackett, she is a spitfire of a sprite. Effie was her only love, she would die for her do anything for her. Effie does not need her now that she has Dax. She is lost what she had found. Now she is a burden a mooche a loser of epic proportions. Just like her family. Not what she set out to be, life has a funny way of putting you in your place and insuring you do as the fates dictate. So when Dax offers for her to go away to let Effie prepare for the little bundle in the oven. She accepts because she would do anything for Effie and she knows she is hurting Effie by the way she is rolling in self pity. She doesn't blame them for wanting her gone. Resigned and miserable she accepts her fate as a burden to her friend. Maybe she can pull it together not seeing her friend in her perfect fairy tail life. Lucky heffer. Until she meets the Happy Rochon family, Shizzles, just Freaking great more happy in your face people in fairy land lives. She spiralled into depression, reclusive existence.Cash is drawn to the mystery of a woman in the other room. Her smell, he must see her. Has to hear her voice, anything. So he sneaks to her window giving her cookies,since she won't come to him he has to go to her. (stalker much?) Just keep her talking and that laugh her must make her laugh. He is desperate to see her but how to convince her?And convince her he must of so much more than just letting him see her. She is his ONE his only Mate, and she needs him desperately. But she is broken and knows it, he deserves better than white trailer trash sarcastic losser. Can Cash help her heal and love honor and protect her, as a mate should? Will she let him? Are the Fates so cruel to show him what he could have only to let it run away from him?Cassie Spirit Hackett & Cash Rochon both introduced in the Dax & Effie story (Cougar's Victory (Pacific Northwest Cougars #1)) Altho they never meet each other. I've been following Yaya's drawing through the Global Doodle Gems group on Facebook for quite some time. Yaya even did an interview with me for my coloring group, International Coloring Club.The illustrations in this book are lovely...I simply adore her drawings of pots and vases. There is quite a lot of variety in this book too!The pages are printed single sided, the paper quality is what you usually see. The pages are not perforated.I do really love this book and would recommend it to colorists of all levels!

O'Brien delves into the "quality and volume of Irish participation in the struggle for American Independence."The book is sensibly divided into three sections: Part One centers on the attitude of the Irish people towards the American colonists; Part Two shows the Irish involvement in the American Revolution; and Part Three focuses on the early Irish immigration into the American colonies.The sizable Appendix lists--among other things--the names of the officers in the American Army and Navy Irish birth and descent.This is a valuable historical resource.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. musnt accept everything in it as exact By Mr maguire this book gives a good bit of detail surrounding the irish(catholic) involvement and dispels the myth that there no catholic irish involvement in the american revolution.but the author is weak in contextualising the evidence.he suggests that the majority of irish participation in the revolution was catholic which simply isnt true and makes wild assumptions on little evidence. still an important contribution to irish history but wished he had been more rigorous with his analysis.

Napoleon Bonaparte's lust for power affected all of Europe, and thus the world. David A. Bell tells of his rise and fall, using evocative language and description that would not be out of place in a novel. At the end, he places Napoleon in historical context, too, discussing how history views the man and emperor. Thus, despite its concise nature, the biography manages to put Napoleon in context, both in his time and ours.I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley. They got an honest review and I got a great book.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A true concise biography of Napoleon By John Mooney David Bell has written a great and concise biography of Napoleon. There are no wasted words in this 113 page book that includes a detailed introduction and ending epilogue. With only 5 chapters to the book, Bell provides the reader with, among other things, with the birth of Napoleon in Corsica; France before and after the French revolution; Napoleon's military accomplishments and battles (some won and some lost) in Europe and the Middle East; Napoleon's ruling of France and the creation of the Napoleonic Code; and Napoleon's downfall before and after the Battle of Waterloo. Bell's work is fair and objective; and he has conveyed to the reader both the "good with the bad" of the rise and fall of Napoleon. The concise biography is splendid reading and can be read in a matters of a few hours. Bell also provides a section of "further reading" and "index" for easy reference. Highly recommend this book on the life of Napoleon. Nice resource book as well of the many works written on all facets of the life and accomplishments on Napoleon.

By lyndonbrecht Bell distills one of the most remarkable figures in recent centuries into just over a hundred pages, and makes it not only very readable, but provides context about how Corsica became French, about the Revolution and about Napoleon on St. Helena and Napoleon as a figure still looming in history. There is also a short but useful annotated "further reading" section at the end. There are even a few illustrations.This would be a good place to start reading about Napoleon and his era or for a review of his life and times. There isn't anything new here, but an admirable summary. Bell does say that Napoleon was taller than the famed 5 foot 2 inches (people used to metric may find this amusing), rather, more like 5' 4" or 5' 5", close to the average height at the time. Apparently there are inconsistencies and issues in older French and English measures and interpretations.
