Excerpt from An Essay on the First Principles of GovernmentThis publication owes its rise to the Remarks I wrote on Dr. Brown's proposal for a code of education. Several persons who were pleased to this favourably of that performance, (in which I was led to mention the subject of civil and religious liberty) were desirous that I should treat of it more at large, and without any immediate view to the Doctor's work. It appeared to them, that some of the views I had given of this important, but difficult subject, were new, and showed it, in a clearer light than any in which they had feel it represented before; and they thought I had placed the foundation of some of the most valuable interests of mankind on a broader and firmer basis, than Mr. Locke, and others who had formerly written upon this subject.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Thomas Jefferson recommendation By Timothy G Solomon In a letter to John Norvell in 1807, Jefferson discussed the principles of civil society and the proper organization of government: "I think there does not exist a good elementary work on the organization of society into civil government: I mean a work which presents in one full and comprehensive view the system of principles on which such an organization should be founded, according to the rights of nature. For want of a single work of that character, I should recommend Locke on Government, Sidney, Priestley's Essay on the First Principles of Government, Chipman's Principles of Government, and the Federalist."Jefferson to John Norvell, June 11,1807, ibid., XI, 222-223

Lady Jane Grey (1536/1537 – 12 February 1554), also known as Lady Jane Dudley or the Nine Day Queen, was an English noblewoman and de facto monarch of England from 10 July until 19 July 1553. The great-granddaughter of Henry VII through his younger daughter Mary, Jane was a first cousin once removed of Edward VI. In May 1553, she was married to Lord Guildford Dudley, a younger son of Edward's chief minister, John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland. When the 15-year-old king lay dying in June 1553, he nominated Jane as successor to the Crown in his will, thus subverting the claims of his half-sisters Mary and Elizabeth under the Third Succession Act. Jane was imprisoned in the Tower of London when the Privy Council decided to change sides and proclaim Mary as queen on 19 July 1553. Jane was convicted of high treason in November 1553, which carried a sentence of death, although her life was initially spared. Wyatt's rebellion of January and February 1554 against Queen Mary I's plans to marry Philip of Spain led to the execution of both Jane and her husband. Lady Jane Grey had an excellent humanist education and a reputation as one of the most learned young women of her day. A committed Protestant, she was posthumously regarded as not only a political victim but also a martyr.

Winner of the 2014 California Historical Society Book Award The latest CHS Book Award winner examines California's history through the prism of twelve elections that forever changed the state. Drawing from a wealth of primary sources, including new interviews conducted by the authors, each chapter explores one election (Leland Stanford's gubernatorial race, the initiative that mandated term limits, and the Los Angeles Aqueduct Bond Measure, to name a few), revealing the forces behind the choices made at the polls and the consequences that carry over to this day. The authors offer thought-provoking interpretation rooted in decades of experience in journalism, public-policy analysis, and political consulting at the state Capitol. Through their perspectives we better understand the intricate game played in Sacramento by contenders such as the bespectacled and brilliant progressive reformer Hiram Johnson, iconoclastic muckraker-turned-candidate Upton Sinclair, and Proposition 13 author Howard Jarvis, with his zealous oratory and machete approach to tax reform. By focusing on elections, the authors show that Californians' voices are as powerful and transformative as the tectonic forces beneath us.

Review “Highly entertaining and scrupulously researched.” --Ed Goldman, Sacramento Business Journal“The book is full of characters that a fiction writer would be envious of creating, tales of machinations and anecdotes that liven the storytelling. Extensive research and interviews with participants involved in the more modern elections enrich the telling.” --Fox&Hounds“This simply is an excellent book an excellent idea, excellently executed. It's compelling, easy reading without airs, telling the pertinent political stories that shaped California.” --George Skelton, political columnist for the Los Angeles Times“A fascinating account of California's political history as viewed through the prism of critical elections from the middle of the nineteenth century to the present....Events and an array of interesting characters spring to life in these pages.” --Jack Citrin, professor of political science and director of the Institute of Governmental Studies, University of California, Berkeley“A compelling analysis of the effect of voting and voters on framing the good, the bad, and the ugly of governance in the Golden State.” --Sherry Bebitch Jeffe, professor of the practice of public policy communication, University of Southern California“Here we get gripping insider portraits of elections that not only served as high political drama, but also changed the historical trajectory of America's most dynamic state.” --Ethan Rarick, author of California Rising: The Life and Times of Pat Brown

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. a book on the depth and breadth of California politics that was not only a joy to read By Julie Kanoff Finally, a book on the depth and breadth of California politics that was not only a joy to read, but made me want to know more and inspired me to become more than ever before an advocate for voter engagement. In story after story taken from historical records, the importance of an informed electorate is laid out. Change took place at the polls. Sometimes very few voters made incredibly consequential changes. Reading "Game Changers: Twelve Elections That Transformed California" along with daily reading of the local newspaper could go a long way toward engaging and mobilizing the vast numbers of California residents who neither vote, nor even register to vote. This book proves, every voter counts, if they vote.

By craig brammer The old formula, "can't see the forest for the trees", I plead guilty. 6 of the 12 elections, lived through and sometimes knew something important was happening but never did understand the full dimensions and the intertwined politics before and after. A fascinating and easyl reading description of various elections and how they changed the state.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Terrific look at California's path to the present day By Valleyblue If I remember correctly, fourth grade is where I learned California history. Learned may be a bit of an overstatement since I remember few details—not because I’m stupid, at least I hope not—but because the history as it was taught from the history books was about as interesting as a twenty-five pound bag of sand. We studied explorers, settlers, missions, the gold rush, and I’m falling asleep just writing about it. Other than visiting a mission or two over the years and a trip with out-of-town guests to Sutter’s Fort (snore), there’s very little about the heavily sanitized fourth grade history books that seem to relate to life in California today. Those we studied were “great men that did great things.” Yeah, right. As you can see, I never thought California history was very interesting. Isn’t it amazing how one book can change all that? Game Changers was a game changer for my interest in California history. This book should be the model for how history books are written; it’s part textbook, part tell-all expose, and all fascinating. There’s no sterilization in the stories, you hear what happened, warts and all. We learn how California’s legendary figures manipulated the system for personal gain, how Southern California ended up getting Northern California’s water, how the state’s constitution evolved, and a lot more. And it’s all explained by looking at twelve critical and intriguing elections.Game Changers is the first book that I know of that provides an explanation of why California is the way it is today and how we got here. If all history books were written like Game Changers, nobody would be able to get enough of California history. If you’re not a Californian, still read this book because it is really interesting—however, be advised and warned that it will make you very curious about the real story of the particular state in which you live.

This abundantly illustrated, wide-ranging volume captures the rich and diverse architectural history of Rockbridge County, Virginia, including the two cities of Lexington and Buena Vista. While recent books have documented the area’s social history, this book fills a long-recognized void by tracing the area’s architectural heritage, from the eighteenth century to the post-World War II period. Beginning with early log and stone structures on what was once Virginia’s frontier, the discussion moves on to the brick construction of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries that produced some of the finest Federal homes in the Valley of Virginia. The book covers the many styles that would follow, often with their own vernacular interpretation.

T

he Architecture of Historic Rockbridge is an enormously useful companion to The Architecture of Historic Lexington, itself an invaluable resource now for forty years. Including discussions of towns, schools, churches, resorts, and industrial buildings, the new volume will satisfy the scholarly, while presenting architectural analysis in an engaging manner accessible to a general readership. The book is richly illustrated throughout, with over two hundred color and black-and-white photographs (including the work of internationally recognized photographer Sally Mann), line drawings, and historic maps.

Small, Misty Mountain: The Awanadjo Almanack, by Rob McCall

From Publishers Weekly Winner of the Pushcart 20th Editors' Book Award, McCall's botanical, zoological, spiritual and neighborhood almanac grew out of his longtime community radio show in coastal Maine. The mountain he refers to is Blue Hill Mountain ("Awanadjo" in Algonkian) near Blue Hill, Maine, where McCall serves as a Congregational minister. Careening from the mystical to the practical, cranky to idealistic, the book offers a year's worth of entries for each phase of each moon, accompanied by charming woodblock illustrations by Jonathan Fisher (first minister of McCall's church). McCall reports, philosophizes and preaches on natural events (e.g., cedar waxwings in the orchard; immigration), "un-natural events" (laws against immigration; machine-made Halloween decorations), as well as singling out "critters of the week" and other things he finds in the fields, forests, mountains and saltwater areas around him. He provides quotations from Walt Whitman, Annie Dillard and others, along with "rank opinions" of his own (e.g., "Many people have survived and flourished for millennia without computers, insurance, automobiles, skyscrapers, credit cards, and televisions, but none could survive long without food and care for children"). By turns inspiring and infuriating, McCall has something for everyone, but as he says at the end of each moon, "Don't take it from me. Go out and see for yourself." (Oct.) From Booklist Almanacs are indispensable tools for people wishing to live in complete harmony with nature. As trackers of tides and temperatures, they studiously document the past so that future generations may predictably monitor the future, and although the most reliable are spare journals of facts and figures with a bit of folklore and whimsy thrown in for good measure, McCall's gift to the genre reverses that formula. Resplendent with lyrical imagery and luminous insights, McCall's practical and poetic chronicle of a year spent in the shadow of Maine's Blue Hill Mountain is a jubilant and rhapsodic celebration of nature with a capital N. Organized according to the lunar cycles, McCall's almanac faithfully and astutely records seasonal, climatic, botanic, and zoological happenings, then explains how such events can inspire and instruct observers in the greater ways of the world. Blue Hill Mountain is a natural tabernacle in McCall's eyes, a viewpoint he encourages readers to adopt about their own special place, be it stark desert canyon or sheltered backyard haven. I know Rob McCall, and his book is a series of essays that are actually more like prayers. His observations are full of many details that will also connect others to the mountain that stands at the edge of downeast Maine in Blue Hill. This book will give readers - even those who have never set foot in Maine - a feeling of reverence and understanding for the many denizens of that area. Do yourself a favor and buy this book and keep it handy. Reading an essay or two will do more for lowering your blood pressure than any pharmaceutical.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Small, Misty Mountain By Louis J. Casale I certainly enjoyed this book. I am very familiar with the Blue Hill Area of Maine. Beside the great description of the different seasons, I was delighted by Rob McCall's religious interpretations.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good food for the nature lover's spirit! By P. Turner Small, Misty Mountain is a must read if you love Downeast Maine and feel connected to the land there, irregardless of whether you live there or not. It is a great book to feed the nature-lover's spirit! It is a writer's book too, a thoughtful and well-written text that pulls us into the writer's experience of the outdoors but also gives a telling commentary on being in the world now. The format is engaging, offering bits of information that intertwines cultures and times. I've read this - and will refer back to it I am sure - and found it to be a fitting gift for several kindred souls.

The story of Cucamonga begins long ago. To its first inhabitants, the Tongvan Kucamonga tribe, Cucamonga meant land of many waters, referring to the areas numerous streams flowing down from the southeastern end of the San Gabriel Mountains. By the 1800s it was a Mexican land grant named the Cucamonga Rancho. Murder, drought, and foreclosure led to the ranchos 13,000 acres being subdivided. Immigrants from around the world arrived to make a new life in the renowned Cucamonga Wine Valley. One Italian immigrant, Secundo Guasti, bought a huge swath of land in southern Cucamonga and planted the worlds largest vineyard. Many of Guastis workers lived north of the winery in an area they aptly named Northtown. Still others planted farms, started businesses, and built schools and churches. The farms are gone. Most of the wineries are closed, and parts of the old rancho are now known by the city names of Upland and Ontario; but the story of Cucamonga lives on through these and other photos.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great book, great romance, great author! By Erika 4.25 stars!Let me start off by saying this: Mackenzie K. Paxton is a very talented writer!! I love her writing style: it is intelligent, makes everything feel so "real" and keeps me hooked into the story.Fighting for Heather was filled with moments of steam, sweetness, sassiness, sexiness, excitement, anticipation, some sadness and finally, happiness.I really enjoyed both Heather and John. Their relationship was sort of a slow build, BUT at the same time.....the lust and sexual attraction were off the charts from the moment they met. They definitely were a perfect match: exactly what the other needed. The plot of this book was very focused on the romance and the relationship. There were only a few sections where the focus was not. I liked that a lot since I read for the romance!!A couple of my favorite things that made me SO SO happy about this book (and also Paxton's other book, Bourne to Love):(1) there is no OW drama. Nothing. Nada. Thank you so much!!!(2) both the H and h are sexually experienced; none of that clichéd virgin heroine getting matched with the manwhore ( a gag-worthy trope imo). Again, thank you so much!!Note about pushing away: the heroine pushes the hero away a bit at the beginning, but he is sexily persistent! lol. Later, the hero has a mini episode of pushing away, but rectifies it and grovels magnificently. :DI really enjoyed all the scenes with the R.E.D. operatives as well, and I hope (please MacKenzie!?) that a book about Rio and Raven is in the works. I can't wait to read this author's next book. I will be buying it the moment it goes on sale

They have long internal monologues about their feelings, they refuse to have sex with the women they fall in love with solely because they are beautiful and look like they will be good in bed; but, again, these guys are not going to disrespect their over 30 women who are in no way virgins by having sex ... even when these women are throwing themselves at these supposed-to-be hardcore warriors who previously barely knew one hour stands' names. This is my second story by this writer. In the first story when the heroine is continually kissing, propositioning, pulling her clothes off, begging the hero to have sex with her and he is pulling away and wanting to wait until they know each other better ... well, I didn't know what to think. But when this second heroine just tells the hero she wants to suck him off and for him to get her off and he wants to take things slow and date first ... I rolled my eyes and hoped the storyline would improve. It didn't. I got more deadly Armed Forces guys sharing or internally monologueing their feelings about their women, their work, their co-workers, all in gentle respectful thoughts with plenty of empathy. This kind of unrealistic fantasy fiction may be some readers cup of tea. It is very sweet, light, and unsatisfying. For everyone else it is a DNF.

I misjudged Heather in Bourne to Love Emma. I realized quickly that her over the top facade was just that a carefully crafted shield that guarded the warm hearted woman underneath.John stole my heart in the previous book and in this story he squeezed it and stopped it and shocked it back to life. Heather and John had such chemistry that even with no sex for most of the book they had so much heat it really wasn't missed. For sexy story lovers like myself that says a lot when an author has the meat in the plot and the love story stands on its own without having to depend on the sexy times. But don't think this wasn't sexy because anticipation is some times the best heat. The kisses were on fire and some dirty talk kept the dialogue sizzling.I kept thinking how perfect they were for each other and absolutely couldn't put it down. John took me for a big scary ride for a few pages and I went from serious disappointment to anger and disgust.. To absolutely smitten and sympathy.. Then forgiveness. He grovels like a pro and seriously is one romantic sweetheart. I loved that we saw more into R. E. D. and all the other characters. I really can't wait for Rio and Raven's story although I'm very nervous about it. I won't make the mistake and prejudge them though. I'll have faith that Mrs. Paxton will work her magic and keep these two lovers faithful even while they long from afar. What I'd like to add about my enjoyment of these stories by this gifted author is that they just seem so Real and down to earth. Real issues like scheduling conflicts that mess up dating plans and things like friends needing help with moving or babysitting. It might seem mundane to some people but as a 42 yr old working mom who has been raising kids and married for over half my life I like to read about reality sometimes just so I can feel like I'm not alone after all in this crazy world that doesn't stop because we want it to. Things happen and we have to adjust. The way Heather and John and Jason and Emma tackled life just made their love even sweeter.I really loved Josh until I heard his history and I just feel like that ruined him for me. So many great moments in this sexy, romantic story.I absolutely feel like finding stories where the characters actually go through all the steps to really have a romance is rare these days. Seems like it's all about the hook up and no strings that accidentally turn into relationships. No body wants to actually take a chance.. But this author has really brought romance back in a beautiful way.I seriously can't wait for more.

Beauty is about to tame her beast...

Researcher Maggie Donovan has no luck with men, and it doesn't help that she can't keep her eyes off of her sexy boss – the one everyone else in the office calls The Beast. Relationships in the office are forbidden. So no one is more surprised than Maggie when she pretends to be his fiancée to save him during a difficult situation. Not only has she put her job on the line, but the future of the company.

Billionaire Benjamin Gale III doesn’t believe in love or romance, but the look on his mother’s face when Maggie tells her that she’s his fiancée is worth millions. Instead of firing her for her insubordination, he goes along with the ruse. In his arms–and in his bed–she’d be everything he could ever want…which is why he can’t have her.

But if he doesn’t let her go, they’ll lose everything…

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Beauty and the Beast meets Cinderella, this book was quick and light. Had some sweet and sexy times, but was good not great. By Casey M. Britton Review for Ramblings From This Chick. ramblingsfromthischick.blogspot.comI have read quite a few books at this point from Diane Alberts/Jen McLaughlin, so when I saw she was doing a series based on fairytales I was really excited. I really love modern fairytales and I couldn't wait to see what she would bring to the table with Beauty and the Boss. While this one was okay, I did have some problems with the story.Benjamin Gale III (as he is referred to multiple times here, in case the reader might forget) doesn't believe in love. He has a lot to prove when it comes to his family's business, and he has no time for anything else but work. Maggie Donovan has had her share of back luck with men, and at this point she isn't looking for love ever. But the attraction between her and her boss Benjamin (also known as The Beast around the office) comes to a head one night while they are working late, despite the fact that office relationships are forbidden. So when Maggie claims to be his fiance when they are confronted with his mother and a difficult situation, Maggie and Benjamin agree to go along with the ruse to benefit them both. But as they spend more time together, the lines between real and fake begin to blur. When Benjamin is given the ultimatum to give her up or lose everything, will he choose the life he has known and been expected to live, or the chance at love and a future with Maggie? While Maggie and Benjamin (I refuse to call him Benji like Maggie did) were likable enough characters, I felt like they were so cliched and too cookie-cutter to really stand out here. Benjamin was your typical workaholic rich alpha, grumpy and unapproachable to all but Maggie. Maggie was your cute and sweet, yet terribly naive small town farm girl transported to the big city. They did have chemistry and were sexy together, but I honestly just didn't connect to them at all. They were just your run of the mill characters and I didn't feel invested in their story or relationship.I also felt like the big conflict here was just as cliched and over the top as Benjamin and Maggie's characters. Benjamin's villain of a mother was hell bent on destroying everything around her and she was just as ridiculous and over the top as you would expect for a classic evil mother to be in a fairytale. While I do love fairytales re-imagined and given a modern twist, this Beauty and the Beast meets Cinderella story just missed the mark for me. It fell flat and I found myself skimming at times to get to the end and see how everything turned out. This one felt like it had all been done before, with nothing new or exciting brought to the table. While it was a quick light read, it wasn't overly memorable. If you are looking for something with some sweet and sexy moments that you can read in a few hours, you might give this one a shot. But if you are looking for something new or different, you might want to skip this one.**Complimentary Copy Provided by Publisher**

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. A beautiful mess of a love story By Louise N Sometimes you read a story and you think you feel like you could really know these people. I loved the characters of Benjamin and Maggie. They were opposite types but were both broken in their own way. They were so complicated and developed that I got their connection right from the start. I laughed at the inner dialogue that Maggie kept letting slip out, and when she kept wishing for a meteor shower of some other catastrophe to save her from some embarrassment, I completely felt where she was coming from. The pace of the story was steady and the dialogue was often really funny. The scenes smoothly transitioned to the next and the plot was easy to follow as it evolved. The one constant thing throughout this book was my desire for Benjamin's Mom to just die an awful death or go to prison. She is evil personified, a nasty piece of work. The times when I thought she had won, I wanted to just crawl into the book and punch her myself. The premise of the story developed as a reaction to her vileness but then it just grew. In every scene that she was involved in, I hated her so much more than I did before. Benjamin and Maggie took the whole, fake it till you make it, vibe to a totally different level. I know the whole fake fiance thing is a trope that has been used many times in the past, but I really like the way this one fleshed out. The love scenes were like magic and very well described. I really enjoyed reading this book and watching the characters grow really made it worth the time it took to read it.

By Splashes Into Books Rating 4.5/5This is a delightful twist on the fairytale ‘Beauty and the Beast’, a highly enjoyable romance filled novella. The boss is Benjamin Gale the third, CEO of his family’s company, totally goal orientated and nicknamed the Beast by most of the folks who work in the office. The noteworthy exception to this is equally hardworking researcher, Maggie Donovan, who is the only one he’s ever heard defending him. When both are working late one night he decides to invite her to join him dining with another member of the board – then that gentleman cancels, leaving the two of them dining in his office when his nemesis – his mother – appears. She’s the epitome of the evil stepmother – wicked, manipulative, threatening, spiteful, a nasty person who has never shown him any love. Relationships in the office are banned so now his mother tries to sack Maggie and threatens to have him ousted from his position. Maggie, however, is made of sterner stuff and proclaims they’ve been dating for ages before she joined the firm and they’re now secretly engaged! To find out what happens next, you’ll just have to read this yourself! The story is an engaging tale, with enough twists and turns to keep the reader enthralled. His ‘mother’ is determined to thwart their romance and manipulate both their lives to achieve her own goals, which is certainly not his happiness! It is a cute and charming tale, befitting its fairytale basis and a very enjoyable read. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

This book is a detailed reference of the twentieth century struggles that were waged across and beyond the decaying Russian Empire at the end of the First World War, as tsarism and democratic alternatives to it collapsed and the world’s first Communist state, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, was born. At the same time, it is a necessary corrective to studies that have viewed events of the time as a unitary “Russian Civil War” that sprang from the Russian Revolution of 1917. Instead, it contributes to the ongoing process of integrating the civil wars into a “continuum of crises” that wracked the Russian Empire and its would-be successor states across a prolonged period. The Historical Dictionary of the Russian Civil Wars, 1916-1926 covers the history of this period through a chronology, an introductory essay, appendixes, and an extensive bibliography. The dictionary section has almost 2,000 cross-referenced entries on individuals, political and governmental institutions and political parties, and military formations and concepts, as well as religion, art, film, propaganda, uniforms, and weaponry. This book is an excellent access point for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about the Russian Civil War.

Historical Dictionary of the Russian Civil Wars, 1916-1926 (Historical Dictionaries of War, Revolution, and Civil Unrest), by Jonathan D. Smele

Review As part of the Rowman & Littlefield Historical Dictionary series, it is ostensibly written for high school and college students. While that audience does benefit, it also is a valuable addition to Russian scholars and specialists. Of particular note is the comprehensive, historiographic, 60-page essay which introduces this work. This essay details why this work incorporates a longer time frame in which to consider the civil wars and how the wars are more than just the Reds versus the Whites. . . .Recommended, highly so, for any libraries actively collecting in Russian history. (American Reference Books Annual)I suggest you petition your local library to add a copy to its research section as soon as possible. Serious scholars needing a personal copy should put this on their gift list or wish list for their birthday or anniversary. It is that good. The 4-page Reader’s Note is an excellent primer on the difficulties of writing and researching this subject due to the usage of a different calendar and the various translation styles. The 38-page bibliography is a treasure trove for anyone wanting more in-depth information. Each of the almost two thousand alphabetical listings is more than just a name and a short definition. The entries are so complete this work could easily be called an encyclopedia instead of a dictionary. Inside each entry are boldface cross references to terms with their own listing in the books. Think hyperlinks on paper, and they are quite useful. When you begin connecting these dots, you will need a lot of notepaper. I have checked numerous entries for accuracies and have found no discrepancies. . . .We can learn from other people’s experiences to better prepare ourselves for the emergencies/catastrophes of our lives, and these books are a great place to start. Surely this wonderful hardback 2-volume work can be offered for much less money and reach a larger audience. The price of the ebook is bordering on criminal. Please. It is an ebook for golly sakes - no paper and no ink!!!Otherwise, this is a must for anyone interested in the subject. I thought the civil war lasted from roughly 1918 to 1920, but the author has expanded and explained the extra years in the study. The Chronology and Introduction are exceptional and illustrate the author's masterful grasp of the subject. I am looking forward to his book on the subject coming in 2016.

Incredible discoveries have been unearthed in Jerusalem that have the potential to send shock waves throughout Israel, the Middle East, and the entire world. The location of Solomon’s Temple may have been found in Jerusalem. However, this site is not on the Temple Mount in the traditional spot currently occupied by the Muslim held Dome of the Rock. Rather it is in an area owned and controlled by Israel in the City of David. This eye-opening book examines the profound repercussions that will take place when the announcement is made that the Temple is being rebuilt. As you will learn, the implications are military, economic, social, informational, infrastructural, religious, and geostrategic. Says the author, “We are watching history unfold before our very eyes.” The construction of the Third Temple will occur in our lifetimes—and will change the world as we know it. In a review by Robert Cornuke, author of Temple, he states, “The true location of Solomon’s temple has been discovered. This must-read book tells us what’s next.” NORMAN H. ANDERSSON, Brigadier General (retired), is the Chief Executive Officer of several small companies in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has served in executive leadership positions in many local and national organizations including the Military Officers Association of America and the Bible Archaeology, Search and Exploration (BASE) Institute. His travels, including many journeys to the Middle East, have focused primarily on military and more recently, religious issues. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Army War College, received an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah, and earned a Doctorate in Philosophy from Louisiana Baptist University.

The author starts with an intriguing archeological speculation as to the location of the Temple and explores the political, religious, and economic implications of such a discovery. As a result, this book covers new ground on this topic. Grappling with a huge mass of potential outcomes and inter-related events, the author lays out the likely scenarios in a compelling manner, driving home the conclusion that such a discovery would have world-shaking implications. The author - who has walked the ground discussed in this book - shares a sense of wonder with other works on this topic. Driven by the author's technical and military background, this book then moves on to present new insights in considerable detail, striving to answer the question of : "OK, what happens next?"This is not light reading, with several information-intensive chapters that will require some fortitude on the readers part. But then again, it was not intended to be just entertainment - and the rewards are many for those that persevere. While the author's religious beliefs are clearly discernible, this book also contains a wealth of information on political, economic, and military aspects of such a discovery. This means that the reader who does not share the author's beliefs can greatly benefit from this incisive and detailed analysis of the situation.

The fact that he covers the political, military, economic and religious implications of today's Jerusalem Temple area is so timely. I am currently reading other books that deal with very little or none of these issues. This one book covers them all . I can go back and forth to different chapters and see how things "tie in".This book has opened my eyes to many possibilities regarding the location of the Temple and how that might impact local and world responses by addressing different issues. What might the implications be for us today? As a christian I am very interested in Jerusalem's Temple and what is going on in that part of the World. Be sure to get a copy of this book. I highly recommend it. --Clarissa

By Bonnie Brown Having been to Israel many times and seen the fervor to rebuild the Temple increasing, I really appreciated all the different scenarios brought out in this book. The author's perspective is unique and I learned a lot. I recommend to all interested in the ramifications of the Third Temple.
